Green PCB expansion card with six SATA ports and a PCIe x1 edge connector

Syba

Syba SY-PEX40166 6 Port SATA III PCIe 3.0 x1 Non-RAID Controller

SKU CH-G1S1-PZ38Q MPN SY-PEX40166

Adds six SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports via a PCIe 3.0 x1 slot using a JMB582 chipset, supporting up to 10 drives with hot-plug and staggered spin-up

  • Adds six SATA 6 Gb/s ports via PCIe 3.0 x1
  • Hot-plug and staggered spin-up protect drives during changes
  • Port multiplier support lets you connect more drives per port
  • Driver-free AHCI operation works with Windows, Mac, Linux and NAS
  • Low-profile card fits tight chassis while supporting up to ten drives

Six-port SATA III expansion

The Syba SY-PEX40166 adds six 6 Gb/s SATA ports through a single PCIe 3.0 x1 slot. It uses a JMB582 chipset and operates without RAID, presenting each drive directly to the operating system. No driver installation is required for Windows, macOS, Linux or NAS platforms.

Surveillance storage builders

This card suits installers who need up to ten SATA drives or optical drives in a low-profile slot without software RAID overhead. Builders who require hardware RAID levels, data redundancy or bootable RAID arrays should look at a dedicated RAID controller instead.

Shared bandwidth on ports one to five

Port 0 delivers the full 6.0 Gb/s link while ports 1 to 5 share a total of 6.0 Gb/s, limiting simultaneous throughput when multiple drives are active. Maximum sequential read or write speed is rated at 850 MB/s.

Questions about this item

What type of slot must my motherboard have for the SY-PEX40166 to install?

The card requires an available PCIe 3.0 x1 slot on the motherboard.

Will the five shared-bandwidth ports bottleneck my existing 6 Gb/s SATA drives?

Ports 1 to 5 share a total of 6.0 Gb/s bandwidth, so simultaneous heavy traffic on multiple drives will be limited to that aggregate throughput.

How can I verify each of the six ports is recognised at 6 Gb/s after installation?

Check the AHCI controller in Device Manager or run a drive benchmark; Port 0 should show a 6.0 Gb/s link while Ports 1–5 share that 6.0 Gb/s pool.
