Stage & Studio Halogen Lamp

The OSRAM 54686 BTM is a 500 watt tungsten halogen bulb built for professional stage, theatre and studio fixtures. It produces 13000 lumens at a 3200K colour temperature with a CRI of 100. The clear envelope and P28s medium prefocus base ensure precise optical alignment in follow-spots, ellipsoidals and studio fresnels. Rated life is 100 hours under typical operating conditions.

Fixture & Supply Check

Verify that the fixture accepts a P28s medium prefocus base and is rated for 500 watts at 120 volts. Confirm the lamp compartment can accommodate the clear halogen envelope and that the socket wiring handles the current draw. Ensure dimming circuits and rigging hardware are compatible with the ANSI BTM code before installation.

Thermal & Power Behaviour

The lamp runs at 500 watts and generates significant heat during operation; adequate fixture ventilation is essential to maintain output consistency. Silent operation suits noise-sensitive studio and theatre environments. Power draw remains steady at the rated 120 volts throughout the 100 hour lifespan.

Questions about this item

Does the box include a fixture or dimmer, or is only the bulb supplied?

Only the OSRAM 54686 BTM halogen bulb is supplied; a compatible P28s fixture and external dimmer must be purchased separately.

I see only one wattage and base combination listed — is there any other version to choose from?

The product is offered solely as a 500 watt, 120 volt lamp with a P28s medium prefocus base; no alternative wattages, voltages or base types are available.

What does the 13000 lumen rating actually deliver when the lamp is running in a theatre fixture?

In a correctly aligned P28s fixture the lamp produces 13000 lumens at 3200K with a CRI of 100, matching the ANSI BTM specification for stage and studio use.
