12-bay rackmount NAS with Xeon D-1531 2.2GHz CPU, 48GB DDR4 ECC memory and 48TB of SATA storage for virtualisation, file sharing and surveillance
The Synology DiskStation DS3622xs+ is a 12-bay rackmount NAS built around a Xeon D-1531 6-core CPU running at 2.2 GHz with a 2.7 GHz turbo. It ships with 48 GB of DDR4 ECC SODIMM memory and twelve 4 TB SATA 3.5-inch drives installed for high-capacity storage. The platform targets small and medium businesses running intensive, multi-user workloads such as iSCSI backup targets, file storage, email servers and domain controllers.
The 48 TB raw array provides headroom for large virtual-machine libraries, container storage and high-bitrate video editing projects. Dual 10 GbE RJ-45 ports with link aggregation and failover keep throughput high when many clients access data simultaneously. Twelve drive bays allow future expansion without adding another chassis, though the single power supply means no redundancy if that unit fails.
A single power supply feeds the Xeon processor, memory and twelve spinning drives under typical multi-user loads. The rackmount form factor relies on front-to-rear airflow through the 12-bay chassis to keep component temperatures stable during sustained file serving or surveillance recording. Fan speed ramps with drive count and CPU utilisation, so noise rises when all bays are active but remains within expectations for a 1U-class rackmount server.

The two 10GbE RJ-45 ports auto-negotiate down to 1GbE, so they will connect to your current switch, but throughput will be limited to 1GbE until you add a 10GbE uplink.
In DSM open Resource Monitor, select the CPU tab and watch the frequency column under sustained load; it should show speeds up to 2.7GHz when thermal headroom allows.
The chassis, motherboard, single power supply, 2 USB 3.2 ports, 2 expansion ports and DSM licence are in the box; the 12 x 4TB SATA 3.5" drives and 48GB DDR4 ECC SODIMM arrive in separate packages for you to install.
