12-bay SAS RAID enclosure

The Synology UC3200 is a 12-bay SAS RAID enclosure designed for environments that need high-density block storage. It accepts 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SAS SSDs and hard drives, which are not included. The unit provides a single expansion port for connecting additional RXD1219sas units. It targets IT teams building active-active iSCSI infrastructure.

Capacity scales to 36 drives with expansion

Twelve internal bays deliver immediate capacity, and the enclosure can scale to 36 drives by adding RXD1219sas expansion units through the rear port. The system sustains over 140000 4K random write IOPS for low-latency workloads. It runs within an operating range of 0°C to 35°C and 5% to 95% relative humidity. Buyers needing more than 36 drives or non-SAS media should look elsewhere.

Single expansion port defines topology

The sole external I/O is one expansion port, so every additional shelf must daisy-chain from this connection. This constraint fixes the growth path and cabling layout for the entire deployment. The unit ships with dual AC power cords supporting 100 V to 240 V input. No host-facing SAS or Ethernet ports are present on the enclosure itself.

Questions about this item

Will the UC3200 expansion port let me attach my existing RXD1219sas units to grow beyond the 12 internal bays?

Yes, the single expansion port supports RXD1219sas expansion units so total capacity can scale up to 36 drives while keeping the same SAS connectivity.

Which front-panel indicators confirm the UC3200 is delivering the quoted 140,000 4K random write IOPS after I install drives?

The management interface reports real-time IOPS and latency; matching the 140,000 4K random write figure under load shows the active-active controllers are operating as designed.

The accessory pack and quick guide are listed — do I still need to buy SAS drives and rack rails separately?

Drives are not included, so you must purchase SAS SSDs or HDDs; rack-mount ears are supplied but full slide rails are a separate accessory.
