Synology RS3626xs 12-bay rackmount NAS

The Synology RS3626xs is a 2U rackmount network-attached storage server with twelve drive bays. It arrives fully assembled with 144 TB of raw capacity across twelve 12 TB enterprise SATA drives, 32 GB of DDR4 memory, and a 3.2 TB cache pool built from two 1.6 TB cache devices. A Xeon D-1726 processor powers the platform for business workloads.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

IT teams needing a pre-configured, high-capacity appliance for file services, virtualization, or backup targets will find the integrated drives and cache ready to deploy. Buyers who want to supply their own drives, require a different drive count, or need a tower form factor should look elsewhere.

Xeon D-1726 processor and memory ceiling

The six-core Xeon D-1726 defines the compute ceiling for this unit. Installed memory is 32 GB DDR4 with a maximum of 48 GB, so the processor and memory limit determine whether the system can handle the intended concurrent workloads.

Questions about this item

What rack space and power connections does the RS3626xs need to operate?

The 2U chassis measures 88 mm × 482 mm × 724 mm and weighs 14.5 kg. It requires two C13-to-C14 power cords fed from 100-240 VAC 50/60 Hz supplies.

Can the existing 12 TB Synology Enterprise drives stay in place if I later add expansion units?

The twelve 3.5-inch bays are already filled with 12 TB Synology Enterprise NAS drives. Further capacity must come through the two PCIe Gen 4 x8 slots using compatible adapter cards.

How do I confirm the 3.2 TB cache and 10 GbE links are active after first boot?

In DSM check Storage Manager to see the two 1.6 TB cache modules recognised, and open Control Panel → Network to verify both RJ-45 10GbE ports show link-up and negotiated speed.
