A compact 1U rackmount NAS with an AMD Ryzen V1500B processor, 16GB DDR4 ECC memory, four 1GbE ports, a 2-port 25GbE adapter, and 80TB of storage across four 20TB drives
The Synology RS826+ is a 1U rackmount NAS built for edge locations and growing business storage. It uses a 2.2 GHz AMD Ryzen V1500B four-core processor with 16GB DDR4 ECC memory installed. Four drive bays hold the included 80TB of Synology Plus drives, and a PCIe slot adds the supplied 2-port 25GbE adapter.
This unit fits IT teams that want a tested, assembled appliance with 25GbE connectivity and 80TB capacity out of the box. It is not for buyers who need more than four drive bays, more than 32GB memory expansion, or 10GbE copper ports instead of SFP28.
The chassis provides exactly four 3.5-inch SATA bays, so total raw capacity cannot exceed the installed 80TB without larger drives. System memory tops out at 32GB, which may restrict heavy virtualization or large deduplication workloads.

Power down the unit, remove the chassis cover, align the adapter with the PCIe Gen3 slot, press firmly until seated, secure the bracket screw, replace the cover, then power on and configure the ports in DSM.
Monitor SMART health in DSM, schedule regular scrubbing tasks, keep firmware current, and replace any drive that reports reallocated sectors or exceeds the 35 °C operating limit.
The four-core, eight-thread CPU at 2.2 GHz will saturate before the 25GbE links or 16GB DDR4 memory when running concurrent encryption, deduplication, or virtualisation tasks.
