12-bay rackmount NAS enclosure

The Synology SA3610 is a 12-bay diskless rackmount NAS enclosure built for petabyte-scale storage in enterprise data centres and multimedia studios. It delivers high-performance network storage in a 2U form factor and supports on-demand expansion using RX1222sas units to reach up to 1.7 petabytes of raw capacity. Dual built-in 10GbE RJ-45 ports provide high-speed connectivity out of the box.

Who it suits and who should look elsewhere

This enclosure suits organisations that need a scalable, high-availability storage platform with 10GbE networking and the option to add 25GbE, 40GbE or Fibre Channel adapters via two PCIe 3.0 slots. It is not for buyers who require drives included, need a tower or desktop form factor, or want a smaller bay count for limited rack space.

Single specification that decides fit

The decisive specification is the 12-bay 2U diskless chassis with dual 10GbE ports and two PCIe 3.0 expansion slots, which together define the maximum drive count, base network speed and future uplink flexibility.
