Talkpod A36Plus GMRS handheld radio

The Talkpod A36Plus is a dual-band analogue FM transceiver built for GMRS and FRS use with HAM receive capabilities. It suits outdoor groups, off-road convoys and licensed amateurs who need a single handheld for both services. Buyers who want marine VHF channels or digital DMR modes will not find them here.

512-channel capacity and 5-watt output

The radio stores 512 channels split across two banks of 256 each and supports V/V, U/U and V/U dual-watch. Transmit power steps are 5, 2 and 0.5 watts on both VHF and UHF. TX is locked to HAM frequencies, so GMRS users cannot legally transmit on all pre-programmed channels. The 36-mile range claim applies only in ideal line-of-sight conditions.

IP54 rating, 3200 mAh battery and Type-C charging

An IP54-rated shell resists water jets and dust during field use. The bundled 3200 mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 23.68 Wh and charges via the USB Type-C port. Extras include a high-gain dual-band antenna, belt clip, wrist strap and English manual. Optional TBL12 accessories extend capability further.

Questions about this item

Will this radio work with my older GMRS handsets that use 50 CTCSS tones and 105 DCS codes?

Yes, it supports 50 CTCSS PL tones and 105 DCS privacy codes that are independently front-panel programmable, so you can match the exact tone or code your existing handsets use.

How can I verify the 1.44 inch colour display and dual-band receive are functioning correctly after setup?

Tune to the AM air band 136-180 MHz or FM broadcast band to confirm wide 7-band receive, then check the screen shows 8-character alpha channel names and the battery saver timer alarm activates.

What accessories come in the box and which items such as the TBL12 battery must be purchased separately?

The package includes the radio, high-gain dual-band antenna, belt clip, wrist strap, Type-C connector cable and English manual; the extended-capacity 3200mAh TBL12 Li-ion battery is listed as optional.
