This Tamiya kit reproduces the 1966 Volkswagen 1300 Beetle in 1/24 scale for adult hobbyists and collectors. The plastic parts are moulded in black and white and include chrome-plated small parts, metal transfer emblems and realistic rubber-like tyres. Paint and cement are required but not supplied. The model features an opening front hood and rear engine lid that reveal a fully detailed engine bay and interior.

The box contains colourful decal artwork and vintage-style packaging that matches the original release. Officially licensed metal transfer emblems add period-correct badging without extra painting. Snap-fit engineering is not used; all joints need cement for a permanent, rigid assembly suited to shelf display. The opening hood and engine lid stay in position once built, allowing the detailed flat-four engine and interior to be shown without additional supports. A solid one-piece chassis keeps alignment true during construction and ensures the finished model sits level on any flat surface.
