Wide-Angle Prime for Sony FE

The Tamron 24mm f/2.8 DI III OSD lens is a compact wide-angle prime built for Sony full-frame E-mount cameras. It suits landscape, street and everyday photographers who want a bright, lightweight prime that focuses as close as 1:2 magnification for creative detail work.

Sustained Shooting Behaviour

Moisture-resistant construction protects the lens during extended outdoor sessions, while a fluorine coating on the front element resists fingerprints and simplifies cleaning between shots. The f/2.8 aperture maintains consistent exposure control when light changes across a long walk or event.

Installation and Common Issues

The 67 mm filter thread matches other lenses in the series, so existing filters and the included ProOptic kit attach without step-up rings. Buyers who need autofocus on older E-mount bodies without Fast Hybrid AF or Eye AF support will not benefit from those camera-assisted features.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 24mm f/2.8 lens generate during all-day shooting?

The lens is passive with no electronics that produce heat, so it stays at ambient temperature during continuous use.

What camera mount must I already own to use this 24mm f/2.8 lens?

You need a Sony full-frame E-mount camera body for the lens to function.

Will the 67mm filter threads on this 24mm lens match the 67mm threads on my older Tamron zooms?

Yes, the 67mm diameter is shared across the 20mm, 24mm, 35mm primes and the two earlier zooms so filters are interchangeable.
