Versatile Focal Range

The Tamron 28-300mm f/4-7.1 Di III VC VXD Lens covers a broad 28-300mm zoom range on Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. It handles wide-angle landscapes, portraits and distant sports action in a single optic. Weighing 1.3 lb, it is built for photographers who want one lens for travel and everyday shooting.

VC Stabilisation and VXD Autofocus

Vibration Compensation reduces camera shake at long focal lengths, helping keep handheld shots sharp. The VXD linear motor drives fast, precise and quiet focusing for both stills and video. Moisture-resistant construction and a fluorine-coated front element protect against dust, liquids and fingerprints during outdoor use.

Minimum Focus and Custom Controls

At the wide end the lens focuses as close as 7.5 inches, allowing detailed close-up work alongside the telephoto reach. A zoom lock switch prevents unwanted extension when carrying the camera. Compatibility with Tamron Lens Utility software lets you customise focus-ring behaviour and other settings for a personalised workflow.

Questions about this item

How often should the fluorine-coated front element be cleaned or replaced to maintain its protective properties?

The fluorine-coated front element resists dust, liquids and fingerprints; routine cleaning with a lens cloth is sufficient and no scheduled replacement is required.

At which focal length does the maximum aperture reach its narrowest point of f/7.1?

The maximum aperture narrows to f/7.1 at the 300 mm telephoto end of the zoom range.

Does the VXD linear motor or the VC stabilisation system generate noticeable heat during continuous all-day shooting?

The VXD linear motor operates with minimal noise and the VC system runs without producing significant heat during extended use.
