Zoom range and mount

The Tamron Adaptall 28-200mm F/3.8-5.6 is a manual-focus zoom lens covering wide-angle to telephoto in a single unit. Its Adaptall mount system accepts separate adapters so the lens can be used on most manual-focus camera bodies. LD and aspherical elements help reduce aberrations across the 28-200mm range.

Thermals noise and power

The lens has no electronic components, so it generates no heat, draws no power and produces no operating noise. Handling is purely mechanical, with a smooth focus ring and zoom barrel that operate silently in any environment.

Build fit and handling

A compact, lightweight design keeps the kit bag light for walk-around and travel photography. The Adaptall mount requires the correct adapter for each camera system, which must be purchased separately. Manual focus gives precise control but suits photographers comfortable without autofocus.

Questions about this item

How do I attach this Adaptall lens to my camera body?

You need the correct Adaptall mount adapter for your camera brand; the lens itself has no built-in mount.

What will need replacement after long-term use?

The manual focus helicoid grease can dry out, making the focus ring stiff and requiring re-lubrication.

What optical limit appears first when shooting at 200mm in low light?

The maximum aperture narrows to f/5.6 at the long end, limiting shutter speed and increasing depth of field.
