RDX removable hard-drive cartridge

The Tandberg Data 8586-RDX is a 1 TB RDX QuikStor cartridge that fits internal or external RDX docks. It delivers hard-drive speed with tape-like portability for daily backup and archiving tasks. The black cartridge uses a rugged 2.5-inch drive mechanism rated for shock resistance.

Small-business and workstation backup

This cartridge suits offices and workstations that need fast, removable media for rotating off-site backups. It is not for users who require a fixed internal drive, a NAS-grade drive without a dock, or capacities beyond 1 TB.

1 TB native RDX capacity

The cartridge provides 1 TB of native storage on RDX media, which determines how much data fits on a single cartridge. Verify that your RDX dock supports this capacity before purchase.

Questions about this item

Which capacity should I pick from the RDX QuikStor range?

This cartridge provides 1 TB of native capacity; choose it when your backup set fits within that limit.

What does the 1 TB figure mean once the cartridge is in a real machine?

You get 1 TB of raw storage on a removable hard-drive cartridge that slots into an RDX dock for immediate read/write access.

What interface does the 8586-RDX cartridge use and what does that limit in practice?

The cartridge is designed for RDX QuikStor docks; the dock’s own connection determines the transfer ceiling.
