23.6" 16:9 privacy filter

The Targus ASF236W9USZ privacy filter fits 23.6 inch widescreen LCD monitors with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Tiny vertical blinds on the surface narrow the viewing angle so data is visible only directly in front of the screen up to 45 degrees from centre. Onlookers see a dark unclear screen from side angles. The filter also blocks glare to help reduce eye strain.

For open-plan and mobile workers

Office staff handling confidential data in shared spaces gain visual privacy without changing monitors. Remote workers using external displays in public areas benefit from the same protection. Users with curved screens, non-standard bezels or monitors smaller or larger than 23.6 inches should look at other sizes.

45-degree viewing restriction

The filter limits clear visibility to a 45-degree cone centred on the screen. Anyone viewing from beyond that angle sees only a darkened surface. This single specification determines whether the filter meets a buyer's privacy requirement.

Questions about this item

My monitor bezel is 23.6 inches with a 16:9 ratio — will this filter fit without covering the screen?

The filter is made for 23.6 inch widescreen LCD monitors with a 16:9 ratio, so it matches those dimensions exactly.

I keep an older 23.6 inch 16:9 display — does the adhesive or tab mounting damage its bezel over time?

Clear adhesive strips and included tab guides attach to the bezel edge; tabs can be positioned so the screen slides on and off without permanent residue.

After fitting the filter, how do I check the 45 degree viewing limit is actually working?

Sit directly in front — the screen stays clear; move 45 degrees to either side and the display should appear dark and unreadable.
