Dual 4K HDMI Docking Station

The Targus DOCK403GL adds two HDMI outputs running at 4K 60 Hz, Gigabit Ethernet, an SD and microSD reader, plus two USB-A and one USB-C port through a single USB-C connection. It targets notebook and workstation users who need a compact, plug-and-play hub for dual monitors and wired networking. The chassis uses 75 percent recycled plastics and aluminium under the EcoSmart label.

Thermals and power delivery

The dock passes up to 140 W of EPR power delivery to the host laptop while operating, so the connected system charges during heavy workloads. No active cooling is described, so heat dissipates passively through the aluminium housing. Power draw scales with attached peripherals and the host charging level, staying within the USB-C cable and port limits.

Upgrade path and fit

This unit replaces older single-display dongles or port replicators that lack 4K 60 Hz dual-output support or high-wattage pass-through charging. It is not suited for users who require Thunderbolt 3 bandwidth, additional downstream USB-C video ports, or legacy video connectors such as DisplayPort or VGA.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the dock so both HDMI outputs run at 4K 60 Hz?

Plug the dock into a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and 140 W EPR power delivery, then attach both monitors to the two HDMI ports.

Which parts of the Targus DOCK403GL might need replacement after heavy use?

The USB-C and USB-A ports, the RJ-45 jack and the SD/microSD card slots are the mechanical interfaces most likely to wear out first.

What limits dual 4K 60 Hz output during long sessions?

The host laptop must sustain enough DisplayPort bandwidth and thermal headroom; if it throttles, the dock will drop to lower resolutions or a single display.
