17" Checkpoint-Friendly Backpack

The Targus TBB019CA is a 17-inch laptop backpack built for travellers who want a dedicated checkpoint-friendly compartment. It fits most screens up to 17 inches and uses a patented design that unzips to lay flat for TSA screening. The bag is made from 100% recycled PET polyester with PVC-free materials and nickel-free hardware. A trolley pass-through lets it sit securely on rolling luggage.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

As a non-electronic carry bag the TBB019CA produces no heat, noise or power draw of its own. The padded back panel and adjustable shoulder straps distribute the 2.47 lb empty weight across the wearer. Polyester construction and a PVC-free frame keep the profile slim at 7.50 inches deep without adding bulk. Ventilation channels in the padding help reduce heat build-up against the back.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Under a full daily load the 13.50 x 19.75 x 7.50 inch frame holds a laptop up to 11.42 x 15.55 inches plus a tablet in a dedicated pocket. Multiple accessory compartments, a key clip, pen loops, business card holder and water bottle pocket keep gear organised without shifting. The quick-access front pocket stays reachable while the main compartment remains stable on the trolley pass-through during extended transit.

Questions about this item

How do I set up the checkpoint-friendly laptop compartment so it lays flat for TSA screening?

Unzip the dedicated laptop compartment completely so the 11.42" x 15.55" section lays flat on the conveyor belt; the common mistake is leaving the tablet pocket zipped, which prevents the bag from opening fully.

Which part of the TBB019CA will need replacement first with daily commuting?

The adjustable shoulder straps and trolley pass-through stitching endure the most stress from the 2.47 lb load and repeated luggage mounting; inspect the strap adjusters and pass-through seams every few months.

What capacity limit will I hit first when packing the 13.50" x 19.75" x 7.50" interior for a long trip?

The 7.50" depth fills quickly with a 17" laptop, tablet, and accessories, so bulky items like shoes or a thick jacket will hit the depth limit before the width or height.
