17" recycled-polyester backpack

The Targus EcoSmart TBB019US is a new backpack built for notebooks up to 17 inches. Its body uses 100 percent recycled polyester sourced from 23 water bottles. The checkpoint-friendly design lays flat for TSA screening without removing the laptop. A green interior lining makes contents easier to see in low light.

SafePort Sling laptop suspension

The dedicated 16.5 by 11.4 by 1.7 inch compartment cradles the notebook in a patented SafePort Sling that keeps the device suspended during drops. Bump-resistant and drop-resistant construction protects the screen and chassis from everyday impacts. No additional sleeve is required for this level of protection.

Trolley strap and quick-access pockets

A rear trolley strap secures the bag to rolling luggage handles for airport travel. External quick-access pockets hold phone, wallet or boarding pass within reach. The water bottle holder sits away from the laptop compartment to prevent condensation damage. Adjustable shoulder straps and a padded back panel distribute the 2.38 lb load.

Questions about this item

Will a 17" laptop actually fit in the 16.5" deep compartment?

The compartment depth is 1.70" and the laptop is suspended by the SafePort Sling, so a 17" device sits securely despite the narrower interior measurement.

How does the checkpoint-friendly design work at airport security?

The patented design unzips to lay flat, allowing the bag to pass through X-ray without removing the laptop.

What are the external dimensions for overhead-bin fit?

The backpack measures 19.5" height, 13" width and 6.8" depth, fitting most airline overhead compartments.
