Reads and clears engine codes on most 1996 or newer vehicles with 42,000 built-in definitions and O2 sensor testing
This OBDII scanner works on most cars and light trucks sold in the United States with a model year of 1996 or newer. It supports every OBDII protocol including KWP2000, ISO9141, J1850 VPW, J1850 PWM and CAN. The unit draws power directly from the vehicle data link connector so no battery or charger is required.
The device stores over 42,000 DTC definitions covering English, German, French, Spanish, Finnish, Dutch, Russian and Portuguese. It reads and clears stored emissions codes, pending codes and turns off the malfunction indicator lamp. Enhanced diagnostics add O2 sensor and EVAP system testing to the standard code reading functions.
This tool replaces simple readers that only display raw codes without definitions or live data. The jump is worth it when you need on-screen code meanings, multilingual support and the ability to check O2 sensors or EVAP systems before a smog test. It is not for technicians who require bi-directional control, advanced graphing or coverage for vehicles older than 1996.

It covers KWP2000, ISO9141, J1850 VPW, J1850 PWM and CAN, so it reads and clears emissions codes on most 1996-newer U.S. vehicles but cannot access manufacturer-specific modules.
It connects to the standard 16-pin OBDII data link connector, typically located under the dashboard on the driver's side.
Plug it into the OBDII port with the ignition on; the unit draws power from the connector itself, so no separate battery or charger is needed.
