The Taylor 9523 is a non-contact infrared thermometer built for cooking and general temperature checks. It suits home cooks and professionals who need quick surface readings without touching food or equipment. The fixed emissivity of 0.95 works well for most organic materials and coated metals. It is not for users who need adjustable emissivity for polished metals or reflective surfaces.

Temperature Range and Accuracy

The instrument measures from -49 °F to 752 °F (-45 °C to 400 °C) with an infrared accuracy of ±2.0 °F (±1.0 °C). The 1-inch spot size at a 6-inch distance gives reliable readings on pans, grills and oven interiors. It runs out of headroom above 752 °F, so it cannot handle pizza ovens, forges or molten metal. No data logging, alarms or memory are included.

Build Integration and Operation

A single-dot laser shows the centre of the measurement area for easy aiming. The fixed 0.95 emissivity removes a setup step but limits use on shiny stainless steel or aluminium foil. No calibration certificate ships with the unit. It fits in a tool bag or drawer and needs only standard batteries to operate.
