Quick Detachable Bushing for 1 3/8 in Shaft
The Tb Wood's SD138 is a steel split-flange bushing designed for keyed shafts with a 1 3/8 inch bore. It provides a secure, keyless connection between shaft and driven component in power transmission assemblies. The SAE Grade 5 construction suits industrial machinery and machine shop applications.
Replaces pressed or set-screw bushings on SD
The 3/4 in per ft taper and three included cap screws allow faster installation and removal without damaging the shaft. The jump is worth it when frequent changeovers or precise axial positioning are required on 1.375 in length-less-flange hubs. It eliminates the need for heat or pullers during maintenance.
Fits SD series hubs with 2.69 in bolt circle
The 2.188 in bushing diameter and 7/16 in flange width match the hub register, while the 1/4-20 x 1-7/8 in cap screws clamp the split flange evenly. This frees up assembly time and avoids shaft marring. Buyers needing a different bore diameter or a non-SD taper series cannot use this bushing.

Questions about this item
What bolt circle diameter does the SD138 bushing need for mounting?
The bushing requires a 2.69 in bolt circle diameter and uses three 1/4 in -20 x 1-7/8 in cap screws for secure attachment.
How do you install the split-flange SD bushing on a keyed shaft, and what step is often missed?
Slide the bushing onto the shaft, align the 3/8 in keyway width and 3/16 in keyway height, then tighten the three cap screws evenly; skipping the even-torque sequence can leave the split flange misaligned.
When should the steel SD138 bushing be replaced due to wear?
Replace the bushing if the 1.375 in taper length shows fretting, the 3.188 in overall diameter exceeds tolerance, or the keyway walls deform under SAE Grade 5 loading.
