Post-apocalyptic survival strategy

Sheltered is a strategy indie JRPG from Team 17 Digital where you manage a family inside a fallout shelter. You balance hunger, thirst and fear while upgrading the shelter to stay habitable. The game activates on Steam using the supplied online code and runs on Windows, Mac or Linux. It is not suited for players who want fast-paced action or multiplayer competition.

Low hardware demands

Minimum PC specs call for Windows XP, a dual-core CPU, 1 GB DDR2 memory and graphics such as GeForce 7800, AMD HD 4600 or Intel HD Graphics 3000 with DirectX 9.0. Mac requires OS 10.8.5, dual-core CPU, 2 GB memory and GPU like GT 330M, Radeon HD 5750M or Intel HD 4000. Linux needs Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit or 14.04 32-bit, dual-core CPU, 2 GB memory and similar graphics. Storage ranges from 600 MB to 700 MB depending on platform.

Steam activation and regional limits

A Steam account is mandatory for activation and installation. The code is blocked in several countries including AF, BY, CF, CD, CU, IR, IQ, KP, LB, LY, MM, RU, SO, SD, SY, UA, VE, YE, ZW and SS. Buyers in those regions cannot redeem the product. No physical media is shipped; the download begins once the code is entered in the Steam client.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Sheltered download code on Steam?

Create or sign into your Steam account, select "Activate a Product on Steam" from the Games menu, enter the 39111 code, and the 600 MB Windows download begins. The step people miss is verifying their country is not on the blocked list before purchasing.

Will I need to renew any subscription or repurchase Sheltered later?

No. The Steam licence is perpetual once activated. No subscription or recurring payment is required to keep playing the Strategy Indie JRPG.

What is the first hardware limit I will hit during long sessions on minimum specs?

The 1 GB DDR2 memory minimum leaves almost no headroom for background tasks, so RAM exhaustion appears before the Dual Core CPU or GeForce 7800 graphics become bottlenecks.
