TeKit 25pin Parallel LPT PCI Card

This PCI expansion card adds a DB25 parallel port to a desktop computer. It provides a 1.5 MB/s data rate and a 16-byte FIFO buffer for legacy printer or scanner connectivity. The card fits a 32-bit PCI slot and is compliant with PCI-Express Revision 2.0.

Suits owners of older parallel peripherals

Users with parallel printers or scanners that require a DB25 connection can install this adapter. Builders whose motherboards lack a 32-bit PCI slot or who need USB or network interfaces should look elsewhere. The driver CD supports Windows 98 through Vista only.

1.5 MB/s maximum transfer rate

The card delivers up to 1.5 MBytes per second over the parallel interface. This speed determines whether the adapter can handle your peripheral's data requirements. Verify that your device operates within this bandwidth before purchase.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the card is recognised and transferring at 1.5 MBytes/sec after installation?

The card uses plug-and-play to select IRQ and I/O automatically and supports PCI IRQ sharing; Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, XP or Vista will detect the IEEE 1284 parallel port and the 16-byte FIFO handles the 1.5 MBytes/sec rate.

What ships in the box and what must I source separately?

The package contains one 2-port parallel PCI-Express card and a driver CD; no user manual is included, so you will need a DB25 parallel cable and a legacy printer or scanner that uses the 25-pin connector.

Which version suits a 32-bit PCI slot running Windows XP?

This adapter is built for a 32-bit PCI slot and lists Windows XP among its supported operating systems, making it the correct choice for that configuration.
