TeKit Security Lock Cable 1m White

This TeKit security lock cable secures laptops up to 19 inches using a cut-resistant galvanized steel chain with clear vinyl coating. The T-bar mechanism fits standard security slots on notebooks, desktops and docking stations. A one metre cable loops around any fixed object for simple physical protection. Two keys are included in the package.

Thermals Noise and Power

The lock is a passive mechanical device with no fans, electronics or moving parts that generate heat or sound. It draws no power and adds no thermal load to the system. Installation is silent and the vinyl-coated chain prevents scratches on furniture or equipment surfaces.

Upgrade Path and Value

This cable replaces having no physical security at all for portable devices used in shared spaces. The jump is worth it when a laptop must be left unattended on a desk, in a library or at a hot-desk station. It is not suited for buyers who need an alarm function, a combination code instead of keys, or a longer cable than the one metre supplied.

Questions about this item

How do I install the lock cable on my laptop, and what step is often missed?

Loop the 1m cut-resistant galvanised steel cable around a fixed object, insert the T-bar into the standard security slot, and turn the key; the step often missed is ensuring the T-bar is fully seated before locking.

What maintenance or replacement will this lock need over time?

The vinyl coating on the steel cable may wear with repeated looping; if the coating cracks or the keys are lost, replace the entire cable set.

What limit appears first when the cable is under sustained tension?

The 1m cable length restricts how far the laptop can sit from the anchor point; exceeding that reach is the first practical limit.
