Industrial 12 mm inductive sensor
This 12 mm cylindrical inductive proximity sensor detects metal targets at up to 4 mm. It operates on 24 to 240V AC/DC supply and uses a two-wire normally open output. The nickel-plated brass housing meets IP68 and IP69K protection with a NEMA 4X rating. It is suited for machine automation and harsh industrial environments.
Upgrade from lower-spec sensors
The wide voltage range replaces separate AC and DC models in mixed-voltage panels. Shielded construction allows flush mounting where unshielded sensors would false-trigger. The 25 Hz AC and 1000 Hz DC switching frequencies support faster cycle rates than basic 10 Hz units. Choose this when wiring simplicity and environmental sealing are priorities.
4 mm range with 200 mA load
The sensor reliably detects ferrous targets within 4 mm while driving loads up to 200 mA. The 2 m pre-wired cable simplifies installation in cabinets and on moving arms. Operating temperature spans -13 to 158 °F for outdoor and wash-down duty. It runs out of range for non-metallic materials or targets beyond 4 mm.

Questions about this item
What diameter cut-out does the 12 mm cylindrical body need for mounting?
The sensor has a 12 mm threaded barrel, so a 12 mm clearance hole is required; the nickel-plated brass case is 53 mm long overall.
How do I wire the two-wire 24 to 240 V AC/DC output, and what mistake should I avoid?
Connect the two cable leads in series with the load; do not apply power without a load, or the 200 mA maximum current rating will be exceeded and the sensor may fail.
The IP68 and IP69K ratings suggest wash-down use — what maintenance will the 2 m cable need?
Inspect the cable jacket regularly for cuts or abrasion; the sensor itself is sealed to IP68 and IP69K, but the cable is the only part exposed to mechanical wear.
