Starbound Astronomy Viewing Chair

The Telrad Starbound Astronomy Metal Viewing Chair in black is a heavily plated steel seat built for extended sky-observing sessions. Its foldable frame makes it simple to transport and store between sessions. The extra-thick padded seat uses a rot-resistant fill that stays comfortable in heat or cold. It is aimed at astronomers who need a stable, portable perch at the telescope.

Foldable frame with adjustable height

The chair folds into a compact, flat profile that fits in a car boot or closet. When unfolded it offers a broad height range from 9" to 32" so the observer can match any telescope eyepiece level. Good lateral stability prevents tipping when the user leans left or right. Powder-coated steel resists rust and corrosion during outdoor use.

Capacity and headroom for long sessions

The 32" maximum height covers most seated eyepiece positions on common tripod-mounted telescopes. Padded seating supports an adult for hours without the fill breaking down or shifting. The chair is not suited for observers who need a taller stand or a motorised lift. It also lacks built-in storage for eyepieces or charts.

Questions about this item

How high can the seat rise for tall telescope eyepieces?

The seat adjusts up to 32 inches so you can match a high eyepiece without stretching.

Will the frame stay quiet and cool during an all-night session?

The plated steel frame has no moving parts that generate noise or heat, so it remains silent and ambient-temperature all night.

Does the chair arrive fully assembled or must I supply tools?

It ships ready to use — just unfold, set the height and start observing.
