Tether Tools TetherPro 15' USB 2.0 Type-A to Mini-B 8-Pin Cable Orange

SKU CH-MJD2-4YXGP

A 15-foot USB 2.0 Type-A to Mini-B 8-pin cable with gold-plated connectors and ferrite-core shielding for reliable camera tethering

  • 15-foot cable enables flexible tethered shooting
  • Gold-plated connectors resist corrosion for reliable conductivity
  • Ferrite core filters signal noise to reduce transmission errors
  • Full shielding protects against external interference in busy environments
  • USB 2.0 interface delivers efficient data transfer for photo and video workflows

Designed for tethered photography

The TetherPro cable connects Nikon, Panasonic Lumix, Pentax and Sony cameras with Mini-B 8-Pin ports to a computer via USB 2.0 Type-A. Its 15 foot length gives photographers room to move around a set while maintaining a live connection for image review and camera control. Gold-plated contacts resist corrosion for consistent conductivity over repeated sessions. The orange jacket makes the cable easy to spot on a busy studio floor.

Shielded build for studio reliability

A full-lined shield and reinforced ferrite core filter out signal noise and external interference, reducing transmission errors during long shoots. The construction uses premium materials rated for rigorous daily use in professional environments. Connectors are moulded for strain relief at the Mini-B 8-Pin and Type-A ends. The cable meets the highest USB 2.0 specifications for speed and reliability. No active electronics are built into this passive 4.57 metre run.

Extends with active USB 2.0 repeaters

For tethering distances beyond 15 feet, the cable pairs with a USB 2.0 Active Extension to preserve signal integrity and minimise noise. This makes it suitable for larger studios or on-location setups where the computer must stay further from the camera. It is not intended for USB 3.0 or higher bandwidth workflows requiring faster transfer rates. Buyers needing longer native runs without an active extender should consider alternative solutions.

Questions about this item

What does the USB 2.0 interface mean for transfer speed with this cable?

The cable follows the USB 2.0 specification, so its maximum signalling rate is defined by that standard and will not exceed it in practice.

What connectors and length does the 15-foot cable need to reach my camera?

It has a Type-A male plug on one end and a Mini-B 8-pin male plug on the other, with a total length of 15 feet (4.57 m).

How do I install the cable and what step is often missed?

Plug the Type-A end into the computer and the Mini-B 8-pin end into the camera; the step often missed is ensuring both connectors are fully seated so the gold-plated contacts make solid contact.
