Entry-level refractor telescope
The Thames & Kosmos 677016 is a 40-mm objective refractor with a 400-mm focal length, delivering up to 100x magnification for lunar, planetary and terrestrial viewing. It is designed for children and families beginning hands-on astronomy and nature study.
Quick assembly on a 14-inch tripod
The lightweight aluminium tripod assembles in minutes and dampens vibration for steadier images. The built-in compass and finderscope simplify sky orientation, while the precision focus knob and dew shield make fine adjustments straightforward for young users.
Moon, planets and daytime scenes
The 40-mm aperture comfortably resolves lunar craters, Jupiter’s moons and Saturn’s rings, plus birds or landscapes by day. Light grasp limits detail on fainter deep-sky objects, so the instrument is best suited to bright solar-system targets and terrestrial use.

Questions about this item
How do I know the 40mm objective lens and 400mm focal length are aligned correctly after assembly?
Point the telescope at a distant daytime object, use the finderscope to centre it, then adjust the focus knob until the image is sharp; a crisp, centred view confirms the optics are aligned.
Which accessories are included with model 677016 and what must I supply myself?
The box contains the refractor tube, 14-inch aluminum tripod, finderscope, built-in compass, dew shield and 8-page manual; no extra eyepieces or batteries are included.
Is the 100x magnification version the only choice for this model number?
Yes, model 677016 is supplied with a fixed 100x magnification; there are no alternative focal-length or aperture options under this part number.
