14AWG speaker wire for audio installs

This 14AWG speaker wire uses two stranded CCA conductors, each made from 99 strands of 0.16mm wire. It connects loudspeakers to amplifiers in home audio, car audio, security or intercom systems. The 250ft length suits whole-house or multi-room runs.

Flexible jacket eases routing

A transparent PVC jacket with a blue polarity stripe bends around corners and door-frames without kinking. CCA strands are softer than solid copper, so pulling through conduit or tight cavities needs less force. The only common issue is ensuring firm contact on binding posts, because aluminium-clad strands can loosen if terminals are over-tightened.

Steady signal over long runs

At 250ft the cable adds measurable resistance compared with shorter lengths, so voltage drop becomes the limiting factor on high-power amplifiers. The 14AWG cross-section keeps loss low enough for typical home stereo and distributed-audio volumes. CCA conducts less efficiently than pure copper, so sustained high-current passages warm the jacket slightly more than an equivalent copper wire would.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the 14AWG 250ft speaker wire is correctly connected after routing it through corners and door-frames?

Check that the blue stripe on one conductor matches the positive terminal at both the amplifier and each loudspeaker, then confirm audio plays without distortion.

What does the box contain for the 14AWG 250ft speaker wire and what extra items are needed for installation?

The box includes one 250-foot spool of 14AWG two-conductor cable; you must supply connectors, stripping tools, and any wall plates or clips required for your run.

Which version of the 14AWG speaker wire should I choose for a 250-foot home audio run?

Select the 14AWG 250ft CCA stranded cable with 99 strands of 0.16mm each, identified by the blue polarity stripe, for standard stereo or security system wiring.
