Galactic Combat Grip

The Thrustmaster Sol-R 3 AVA Add-On Grip is a flightstick attachment built for PC space simulation and combat. It provides 21 mappable action buttons including two triggers, two hat switches, a ministick and a thumbwheel. The grip features a built-in Z-axis with H.E.A.R.T. 16-bit accuracy for precise rotational control. An ambidextrous design uses interchangeable hand and thumb rests to suit either hand.

Base Upgrade Path

This add-on grip replaces a standard stick on compatible Thrustmaster AVA or Sol-R bases, which are sold separately. The upgrade is worthwhile when a pilot needs the built-in Z-axis and expanded button layout for complex spacecraft management. Two included STAR cams allow the axis response curve to be tuned for different flight profiles. Without a supported base the grip cannot function.

Button Layout And Limits

The 21 controls and dual hat switches comfortably handle ship systems, weapon groups and navigation menus in modern space titles. The ministick and thumbwheel add fine-grained input for targeting or zoom functions. The grip runs out when a simulation demands more axes than the single Z-axis provides or requires a throttle quadrant for independent thrust control. The backlit ministick aids visibility in dark cockpits.
