58mm Pro-Mist 1/8 Filter

The Tiffen 58mm Pro-Mist 1/8 Filter is a camera lens accessory designed to soften excess sharpness and contrast. It creates a pearlescent halo around highlights for a distinctive atmospheric look. This effect filter suits photographers and videographers seeking a cinematic aesthetic.

1/8 density grade

The 1/8 grade offers a subtle diffusion strength ideal for toning down modern lens sharpness. It provides a gentle effect without overwhelming the image detail. This specific density is chosen for a natural, film-like render.

Portrait and narrative shooters

This filter suits creators who want a classic Hollywood glow straight from the lens. It is not for buyers who need a stronger diffusion grade for a heavier dreamlike effect. It also does not serve shooters requiring a clear protective filter with no image alteration.

Questions about this item

What does the 1/8 Pro-Mist density actually do to the image?

The 1/8 grade softens excess sharpness and contrast while adding a subtle pearlescent halo around highlights for a gentle atmospheric look.

What thread standard does the 58 mm filter use?

It uses the standard 58 mm camera-lens filter thread, so it screws directly onto any lens with a matching 58 mm front thread.

Will the 1.6 cm thick filter fit inside a slim 58 mm filter pouch?

The filter frame is 1.6 cm thick, so measure your pouch depth; most slim pouches accommodate frames up to about 1 cm, so a deeper case may be needed.
