Tiffen 6.6x6.6" North Star camera accessory

Tiffen 6.6x6.6" North Star Filter

The Tiffen 6.6x6.6" North Star Effect Filter creates distinct 8-point stars from bright light sources. It adds a professional touch to night scenes and specular highlights for photography. Constructed with high-quality optical glass, it ensures long-lasting performance and resistance to wear. The 6.6x6.6" size fits a wide range of professional matte boxes for versatile integration.

Replaces standard clear filters for creative effect

This filter replaces a standard clear filter when the photographer wants to render point light sources as multi-point stars. The jump is worth it for wedding photographers seeking a romantic mood that clients desire. It is optimised for use with candles, matches, flashlights or streetlights as the primary light source. Minimised light loss maintains image clarity and vibrant colours during the effect.

Limited to matte boxes accepting 6.6x6.6" glass

Practical limits arise from the 6.6x6.6" physical dimensions, which require a compatible professional matte box. The effect depends on bright, specular highlights; flat or diffuse lighting will not produce visible stars. Optical glass construction adds weight and fragility compared to resin alternatives. No electronic communication or autofocus interaction occurs with the camera system.
