Professional Portrait and Landscape Diffusion

The Tiffen 62mm Black Satin 1 Filter is designed for photographers who want a subtle softening effect on portraits and landscapes. It manipulates optical resolution reduction and granular contrast reduction simultaneously for a natural, balanced aesthetic. The dampened halation element adds a delicate, velvety texture without overpowering the image or creating an over-filtered look.

Consistent Effect Across Aperture Settings

The filter's diffusion characteristics remain subtle and unobtrusive even when the aperture is stopped down, providing reliable performance under sustained shooting conditions. Its optimized light transmission reduces highlights and glare while maintaining overall clarity and sharpness. This balanced diffusion ensures a smooth, cinematic look without compromising the integrity of the original scene details.

Durable Optical Glass Construction

Crafted from high-quality optical glass, the filter offers optimal light transmission and minimal color distortion for professional-grade results. The exceptional scratch resistance protects the surface against abrasions during frequent handling and varied shooting environments. The 62mm threaded mount allows direct attachment to compatible lens barrels for straightforward daily use.

Questions about this item

Does the 62mm Black Satin 1 Filter add any heat or noise when used all day?

No. It is a passive glass filter with no electronics, so it generates no heat and makes no sound during extended shooting.

What thread size must my lens already have for this 62mm filter to fit?

Your lens needs a 62mm front filter thread; the filter screws directly onto that thread with no adapter required.

Will the 62mm Black Satin 1 Filter work on older manual-focus lenses that have a 62mm thread?

Yes. It mounts on any lens with a 62mm thread regardless of age or focus type, and its optical glass maintains sharpness while adding the signature halation effect.
