What this filter does

The Tiffen 72mm Warm Pro-Mist 2 Filter combines a mist diffusion effect with an 812 warming layer. It softens highlights and reduces excessive blue tones for a balanced, ethereal look. Photographers seeking a subtle, warm glow in portraits or landscapes will find it useful. The grade 2 strength offers a moderate effect between the lighter and heavier grades available.

How it fits your kit

The filter screws onto any lens with a 72mm front thread. It requires no power, batteries or additional adapters beyond the correct thread size. Using it frees you from carrying separate warming and diffusion filters. Buyers whose lenses have a different thread diameter will need a step-up or step-down ring not included here.

Behaviour under sustained use

The glass construction maintains consistent optical performance during long shooting sessions. The coating resists flare when strong light sources remain in the frame for extended periods. Colour balance stays stable as the filter warms up under continuous illumination. There are no moving parts or electronics to degrade over time.

Questions about this item

Will the mist effect of the grade 2 filter reduce highlight detail in bright daylight?

The grade 2 strength adds a soft, ethereal mood and lowers contrast without removing highlight detail, giving portraits and landscapes a gentle glow.

Does the 812 warming layer shift skin tones too far orange under tungsten light?

The 812 warming filter is calibrated to counteract excessive blue from open shade or flash, so it balances rather than over-warms skin tones.

My lens has a 72 mm front thread — will this circular filter mount directly without an adapter?

Yes, the filter is made for a 72 mm thread and screws straight onto any lens or matte box with that diameter.
