77 mm filter kit for video

The Tiffen 77 mm Film Look Digital Video Filter Kit bundles three diffusion filters for cinematographers who want a cinematic aesthetic straight from the camera. It fits lenses with a 77 mm front thread and is designed for digital video production. The kit targets professionals seeking to soften digital sharpness without heavy post-processing.

Three distinct diffusion effects

The single deciding specification is the inclusion of Black Diffusion/FX 1/2, Black Pro-Mist 1/2 and Warm Black Diffusion/FX 1/2 filters in one package. Each filter provides a different halation and contrast-reduction character so the user can match the look to the scene. Choosing this kit means committing to those three specific strengths and no others.

Ready-to-shoot filter set

The bundled accessories are the three 77 mm filters themselves, supplied in a protective case measuring 22.0 cm by 10.4 cm by 3.8 cm and weighing 1.0 lbs. Having all three densities immediately available lets a videographer swap looks on set without ordering single filters separately. The case keeps the glass clean and organised during transport.

Questions about this item

What does the 1/2 strength rating mean when I screw the Black Pro-Mist onto my lens?

The 1/2 rating gives a moderate halation effect that softens highlights and lowers contrast without making the image look obviously filtered.

How does the 77 mm thread mount limit which lenses I can use this kit with?

The filters only fit lenses that have a 77 mm front thread; step-up or step-down rings are required for any other diameter.

Will the 22.0 cm long case fit in my standard camera bag compartment?

The kit measures 22.0 cm long, 10.4 cm wide and 3.8 cm high, so compare those dimensions to your bag’s internal space before buying.
