Tiffen 77CP 77mm Circular Polarizer camera filter

Purpose and Fit

The Tiffen 77CP is a 77mm circular polarizer built for photographers who need glare control and deeper colour saturation on lenses with a matching filter thread. It suits any camera system that accepts a 77mm front thread, making it a direct fit for a wide range of modern optics. Buyers who need a different thread diameter or a linear polarizer for specialised metering will not find those options here.

Sustained Behaviour

Under continuous outdoor use the filter maintains its polarising effect across changing light angles without colour shift or uneven darkening. The glass and coating resist flare when shooting toward bright skies or reflective water, and the thin frame avoids vignetting even at wider focal lengths. No degradation in transmission or polarisation efficiency is observed during extended sessions in varied conditions.

Installation and Common Issues

The filter threads onto a 77mm lens barrel with standard pitch and seats cleanly when turned gently until snug. Over-tightening can bind the ring, especially in cold weather, so a light grip is recommended. The most frequent problem is cross-threading caused by rushing the first turn; aligning the threads before applying force prevents this. Dust on the front element should be blown off before wiping to avoid micro-scratches on the coating.
