Tiffen 82mm Soft/FX 2 Filter video accessory

Portrait soft-focus filter for 82mm threads

The Tiffen 82mm Soft/FX 2 Filter is a new camera accessory designed for portrait photographers who want to soften skin texture directly at capture. Its miniature lenslet pattern blurs fine details such as wrinkles and blemishes while keeping larger features like eyes sharp. The number-two density provides a noticeable yet subtle effect suited to professional portrait work.

Metal ring with standard 82mm threading

The filter mounts via an 82mm front thread, fitting lenses that share this diameter without adapters. A slim metal ring keeps the profile low to reduce vignetting on wide-angle glass and allows a lens cap or hood to be fitted over the filter. Solid construction resists cross-threading during frequent changes on location or in the studio.

Density fixed at level two only

The effect strength is baked into the glass at density two, so the amount of softening cannot be adjusted without swapping filters. Stronger or lighter grades require separate purchases from the same series. The design avoids highlight flare and contrast loss, but the single density limits creative flexibility compared with variable or multi-filter kits.
