Cinematic Filter for Portraits and Landscapes

The Tiffen Pro Mist 1/2 is a 77mm special effects filter designed for photographers and videographers who want a cinematic, dreamlike aesthetic. It softens highlights and lowers contrast to create a pleasing, pearlescent halo around bright areas. This effect adds a romantic, painterly quality to portraits and landscapes without excessive blurring. It suits creators seeking a Hollywood-inspired look straight from the camera.

77mm Thread Mount for Wide Lens Compatibility

The filter uses a standard 77mm circular thread, allowing it to mount directly on a wide range of compatible lenses. Its construction uses high-quality materials built to withstand the rigors of professional use in various conditions. The durable design ensures long-lasting performance for daily shooting. This compatibility provides versatility across different photography equipment setups.

Subtle 1/2 Grade Effect Preserves Image Clarity

The 1/2 grade delivers a gentle softening of details that reduces harshness from modern lens and film combinations. It tones down excess sharpness and contrast while maintaining overall image clarity. The filter creates a delicate atmosphere suited for both stills and video work. No additional accessories or software are bundled with this single filter unit.

Questions about this item

What filter thread size does the 77mm Pro Mist 1/2 accept?

The filter has a 77mm circular thread that screws directly onto any lens with a matching 77mm front thread.

How thick is the filter frame, and will it vignette on wide-angle lenses?

The frame is a standard slim profile for 77mm filters, designed to minimise vignetting on most wide-angle lenses.

Which side of the glass faces the lens when mounting the Pro Mist 1/2?

Either side works because the effect is embedded in the glass; just screw it on until snug and avoid over-tightening.
