Tonstep 039584 Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter

The Tonstep 039584 adds Bluetooth 5.0 audio transmission to devices lacking built-in wireless audio. It connects via USB or 3.5 mm auxiliary input to televisions, computers or media players. The adapter streams audio to Bluetooth headphones or speakers using the A2DP profile. It is intended for users who want wireless listening without replacing existing equipment.

Bluetooth 5.0 range and codec limits

The transmitter operates on Bluetooth 5.0 with a quoted open-space range of 10 metres. Supported codecs are SBC, apt-X and apt-X Low Latency. Actual range and stability depend on obstacles, interference and the receiving device's antenna quality. The adapter transmits only; it cannot receive audio from a phone or act as a Bluetooth receiver for wired speakers.

Input selection and power requirements

The unit accepts either USB or 3.5 mm audio input, but the supplier notes that inserting a 3.5 mm cable while using USB audio input will cause sound output failure. Select one input mode at a time. Power is drawn from a USB 5 V source, so a free USB port or compatible charger must be available near the source device.

Questions about this item

Which Tonstep 039584 model should I choose?

Only the single black Bluetooth 5.0 transmitter with model number 039584 is listed; no other versions or capacities exist for this product.

What does the 10 metre range mean in everyday use?

The 10 metre figure applies to open space; walls, furniture and other wireless devices will reduce the practical distance.

How does Bluetooth 5.0 limit audio quality here?

Bluetooth 5.0 caps the link to SBC, apt-X and apt-X LL codecs, so lossless or higher-bitrate formats cannot be transmitted.
