What it is and who it's for

The Tonstep 309767 is a compact Bluetooth 5.4 adapter that adds wireless audio to any device with a 3.5 mm jack. It operates as both a transmitter and a receiver, so you can stream music from a phone to a wired speaker or send TV audio to Bluetooth headphones. The tiny 1.4" by .7" by .3" dongle weighs just 5 g and draws power from a USB port. Windows 7 users must install a driver; Windows 8.1, 10 and 11 work without extra software. Mac OS and older Windows versions are not supported.

Thermals noise and power draw

The adapter runs from a 5 V USB supply and contains a small internal battery rated for about 6 hours of continuous use. Recharging takes roughly 2 hours via the included USB cable. Because the device has no moving parts and consumes very little current, it stays cool to the touch and produces no audible noise during normal operation. The low-energy Bluetooth 5.4 chip keeps power draw minimal whether you are transmitting or receiving audio.

What the bundled accessories change

The package includes a USB charging cable, a 3.5 mm audio cable and a printed user manual. The USB cable lets you recharge the built-in battery or run the adapter continuously from any USB port. The 3.5 mm cable connects the adapter to headphones, speakers, car stereos or TV audio outputs without needing extra adapters. The manual explains the one-button pairing process and the dual-link mode that allows two Bluetooth headphones to listen simultaneously.

Questions about this item

Plug the adapter into a USB port, then install the required driver before pairing any audio device; skipping the driver install is the step most users miss.

What maintenance will the built-in battery need over time?

Recharge the internal battery via the DC 5 V USB cable after about 6 hours of use; a full charge takes roughly 2 hours.

What limit appears first during a long listening session?

Battery life ends after approximately 6 hours of continuous operation, so the adapter must be recharged before it can keep streaming.
