Micro USB Ethernet Adapter for Streaming Devices

This adapter adds a wired RJ45 network port to devices that only have a Micro USB 2.0 socket. It targets owners of streaming sticks, mini PCs or single-board computers who need a more stable link than wireless can provide. The 1 metre cable reaches nearby routers or switches without strain. No driver installation is required on supported platforms.

10/100 Mbps Wired Limit and USB 2.0 Bus

The RJ45 port delivers up to 100 Mbps while the Micro USB 2.0 interface runs at 480 Mbps, so the Ethernet link is the bottleneck. Real-world throughput will not exceed the 100 Mbps ceiling, which is below modern broadband tiers and local gigabit networks. Wireless interference from Bluetooth or neighbouring networks is eliminated, but maximum speed is capped by the Fast Ethernet standard.

Check Port Type and Power Before Buying

Verify your device has a Micro USB port for data, not USB-C or proprietary connectors. The adapter draws power from a separate Micro USB power input that needs a 5 V supply rated between 1 A and 2 A. Confirm your streaming stick or board appears in the compatibility list such as Fire TV Stick 2nd Gen, Fire TV 2017, Raspberry Pi Zero or Google Home Mini.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1 metre cable or a different length?

This adapter ships with a fixed 1 metre Micro USB cable and a matching 1 metre USB power cable; no alternative lengths are offered.

What real-world speed will I see from the 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port?

The RJ45 port negotiates at 10 or 100 Mbps, so typical throughput tops out around 100 Mbps — well above most streaming needs but below gigabit.

Does the Micro USB 2.0 connector limit the 480 Mbps rating in practice?

The Micro USB 2.0 link runs at up to 480 Mbps, which is higher than the 100 Mbps Ethernet side, so the adapter does not bottleneck the wired connection.
