Topping E50 MQA DAC

The Topping E50 is a silver portable DAC that uses an ESS ES9068AS chip and XMOS XU216 processor to deliver high-resolution audio. It accepts USB, coaxial and optical inputs and provides RCA and TRS outputs. A remote control adjusts the built-in preamplifier volume.

Audiophiles needing MQA full decode

This unit suits listeners who want MQA full decoding, native DSD512 and 32-bit 768 kHz PCM over USB. It also works well as a preamp for powered speakers. Buyers who require balanced XLR outputs or a bundled power supply should consider other options.

The ESS ES9068AS DAC paired with the XMOS XU216 processor enables native DSD512, 32-bit 768 kHz PCM and MQA full decode over USB. Coaxial and optical inputs handle PCM up to 24-bit 192 kHz and DSD64 DoP. THD+N measures 0.00009% with 126 dB dynamic range.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the E50 produce when it runs continuously?

The E50 is a solid-state DAC with no moving parts, so it generates minimal heat and no audible fan noise during all-day use.

What cables and power source do I need to get the E50 working?

You need a USB, coaxial or optical source and either RCA or TRS cables for the analogue outputs; a 5 V USB power source is also required.

Will the E50 work with my older CD player that only has optical out?

Yes — the optical input accepts PCM up to 192 kHz and 24-bit, so it will decode the signal from a legacy CD transport.
