Outdoor Wi-Fi Plug with Dual Sockets

The TP-Link EP40 is an outdoor smart plug that provides two independently controlled AC outlets. Each outlet supports up to 15 amps or 1875 watts for landscape lights, pool pumps or seasonal decorations. A six-inch cable and mounting hardware let you position the unit where power is needed.

Suits gardens with one Wi-Fi network

Homeowners who want voice control through Alexa or Google Assistant and scheduling via the Kasa app will find the feature set complete. The device connects only to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, so installations that rely exclusively on 5 GHz coverage cannot use it without adding a compatible access point.

IP64 rating and 300-foot range decide fit

The IP64 enclosure resists dust and splashing water, making the plug viable for exposed patios or poolside locations. A built-in power amplifier extends the wireless reach to 300 feet in open areas, which determines whether the signal reaches the router from the chosen mounting spot.

Questions about this item

How much space does the 72-inch cable and plug body need along the wall or post?

The unit ships with a 72-inch attached cable and includes a clamp and screw for wall or post mounting; allow enough clearance for the cable bend radius and the two outlet covers.

Which Wi-Fi band must the router broadcast for the initial Kasa app setup?

The plug connects only to a 2.4 GHz network; during setup the phone must be on the same 2.4 GHz SSID, otherwise the device will not be discovered.

What ongoing care does the IP64-rated housing require?

The IP64 rating protects against dust and splashing water; periodically wipe the outlet covers and check the cable jacket for cracks, especially after severe weather.
