Smart LED strip for home ambience

The TP-LINK KL400L5 is a 16.4ft smart LED light strip that produces up to 16 million colours with high brightness and saturation. It suits homeowners wanting animated lighting effects for TV backlighting, gaming setups, parties or general room ambience. The strip works with Alexa, Google Assistant and SmartThings for voice control, plus the Kasa Smart app for remote management. Grouping and Smart Actions let it coordinate with other Kasa devices.

Check power and adhesion before ordering

Verify you have a suitable 12 V AC power source for the 13.5 W strip and that the mounting surface is clean for the included 3M adhesive backing. The unit measures 196.85 L x 0.39 W x 0.08 H inches and weighs 0.159 kg, so confirm the intended run fits the 72-inch dimension provided. Note the controller and strip must be connected in the direction shown by the arrow on the hardware.

Sustained output rated for 25,000 hours

The strip is rated for up to 25,000 hours of operation, indicating stable colour and brightness over extended use rather than only short bursts. Animated effects and colour changes run continuously without the throttling sometimes seen in brief demonstrations. The cut-to-length design maintains electrical continuity when trimmed correctly, so the full 150 LED count delivers consistent output across the remaining length.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the KL400L5 and do I need to buy a power supply separately?

The KL400L5 includes the 16.4ft LED strip, a controller with a single button for on/off, reset and colour changes, and 3M peel-and-stick adhesive backing. It runs on 12 volts AC so the required power adapter is already in the package.

Should I choose the 16.4ft version or a different length for my setup?

This model is sold as a single 16.4ft (196.85 inches) strip that can be cut to the exact length you need, so there is no separate length option to pick.

What does the 13.5W rating mean for actual brightness and electricity use?

At 13.5 watts the strip delivers high brightness and saturation across 16 million colours while drawing very little power, and the LEDs are rated for up to 25,000 hours of operation.
