5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch

The TP-Link TL-SG105 is a five-port Gigabit Ethernet switch built for homes, offices and creative workgroups that need fast wired connectivity without configuration. Its steel housing supports desktop or wall mounting for flexible placement.

Plug-and-Play Network Expansion

Five auto-negotiation RJ45 ports with Auto-MDI/MDIX remove the need for crossover cables or manual setup. IEEE 802.3x flow control keeps data transfer reliable, while QoS and IGMP snooping prioritise latency-sensitive traffic. Energy-efficient technology cuts power consumption by up to 65 percent.

Gigabit Capacity for Large Files

The switch handles 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps connections, making it practical for moving graphics, CAD and multimedia files across a local network. It serves small workgroups well but lacks managed features such as VLANs or port mirroring for larger infrastructures.

Questions about this item

Does the steel housing of the TL-SG105 require any special cleaning or maintenance over time?

The steel case is a passive enclosure with no moving parts, so it only needs occasional dusting to keep ventilation openings clear.

What limits throughput when all five Gigabit ports are saturated continuously?

Each port negotiates at 10/100/1000 Mbps and the switch uses IEEE 802.3x flow control to manage congestion without data loss.

How much heat and power does the switch produce when running all day?

The energy-efficient design saves up to 65 percent of power consumption, so heat output stays low during continuous operation.
