Outdoor Dimmer Plug

The TP-LINK RD101 is a weather-resistant smart plug designed for dimmable string lights and patio lighting. It suits homeowners who want remote brightness control without wiring or an app. The single grounded outlet handles dimmable LED loads up to 150W and tungsten bulbs up to 300W. It is not for buyers who need multiple outlets, scheduling timers, or voice-assistant integration beyond the included remote.

Handheld Remote Operation

A supplied four-button remote lets you turn lights on, off, dim or brighten from up to 100ft away with no pairing steps. The plug remembers the last brightness level when switched off, provided it stays powered. An 8-inch heavy-gauge cord with IP44 rating allows outdoor placement while resisting moisture and dust. Builders needing hard-wired fixtures or smart-home hub compatibility should look elsewhere.

Continuous Stepless Dimming

The unit delivers 40-plus dimming levels across a 1-100% range for smooth transitions under sustained evening use. After a power outage the outlet remains off until manually restarted, preventing unexpected illumination. A CR2032 battery powers the remote for long-term operation. Users requiring dusk-to-dawn automation or multi-zone control will need a different solution.
