Smart LED Strip for Home Lighting

The TP-Link Tapo L900-20 is a 16.4ft RGB smart light strip designed for indoor ambient lighting. It connects directly to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network without requiring a separate hub. The strip works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control. It suits renters and homeowners wanting flexible colour accents.

Controller and App Features Change Daily Use

The included controller and power adapter manage the 100-240 V input and 1%-100% dimming range. The Tapo app enables scheduling, timers and an away mode that simulates occupancy. Sync-to-sound and preset scenes adjust colours automatically for media or relaxation. No hub purchase is necessary.

Trimmable Design Simplifies Installation

The strip can be cut to length and mounted with the supplied 3M adhesive on clean, flat surfaces. Corners are manageable thanks to the flexible PCB. Common issues include Wi-Fi pairing failures on 5 GHz bands and adhesive loss on textured or dusty walls. Operating limits are -15°C to 40°C.

Questions about this item

How often will the 3M adhesive need replacing if the strip is moved?

The 3M adhesive is intended for a single installation; if the strip is repositioned, new adhesive or alternative mounting will be required.

What is the maximum continuous operating temperature before the strip throttles?

The strip is rated for continuous operation up to 40 °C ambient; beyond that temperature the LEDs may dim or shut down to protect themselves.

Does the controller or power adapter produce audible fan noise when the strip runs at full brightness all day?

The unit has no fan; the controller and power adapter run silently, though they may become warm during extended use at maximum brightness.
