What the JetFlash 890 is and who it is for

The Transcend JetFlash 890 is a 256GB USB flash drive with dual connectors: a reversible USB Type-C port and a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port. It enables direct file transfers between modern USB-C laptops, smartphones, tablets and legacy USB-A computers. The drive is suited for users who move photos, videos and documents across mixed device ecosystems without cables or cloud services.

What to check on your existing setup before ordering

Verify that your target devices host either a USB Type-C port with OTG support or a standard USB Type-A port. Android devices must support USB On-The-Go functionality for the Type-C connector to work. The drive is formatted exFAT out of the box for Windows, macOS and Android compatibility; reformatting may be required for specific workflows. No driver installation is needed on supported operating systems.

Build quality and daily connector implications

The metal housing is splashproof and dust resistant, protecting the NAND flash during transport in bags or pockets. A sliding mechanism covers each connector when not in use, preventing debris ingress and bent pins. The reversible Type-C plug removes orientation frustration on recent MacBooks, ultrabooks and phones, while the Type-A end remains compatible with older desktops and laptops. A strap hole allows attachment to a lanyard or key ring for everyday carry.

Does the JetFlash 890 256GB include any cables or adapters, or is the dual connector the only hardware supplied?

The drive has a built-in reversible USB Type-C connector and a regular USB 3.1 Type-A connector; no separate cables or adapters are included.

What real-world transfer speed should I expect from the USB 3.1 interface on the JetFlash 890?

The drive uses a USB 3.1 Gen 1 connection, which supports up to 5 Gbit/s; actual throughput depends on the host device and file types.
