What it is and who it suits

The Transcend JetFlash 780 is an 8GB USB 3.0 flash drive built for everyday file transfers. Its checkerboard casing makes it easy to spot in a bag. It works with any USB 2.0 or 3.0 port and needs no driver installation. Buyers needing more than 8GB of portable space should look elsewhere.

Thermals noise and power in use

The drive draws power directly from the USB port with no external supply required. Under normal loads it stays cool to the touch and produces no audible noise. Sequential reads reach up to 100 MB/s while writes peak at 20 MB/s. Performance scales down automatically when connected to USB 2.0 hosts.

What the bundled software adds

A free Transcend Elite download provides backup, encryption and cloud-sync tools for the drive. The suite lets you schedule automatic folder backups and create a password-protected vault. It runs on Windows and macOS without extra licences. Users who prefer native OS utilities can ignore the download entirely.

Questions about this item

How do I install the JetFlash 780 on a USB 3.0 port and what step is often missed?

Plug the drive directly into a USB 3.0 port; the step often missed is downloading the free Transcend Elite software for data management.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8GB JetFlash 780 need over time?

No scheduled maintenance is required; replace the drive if write speeds drop well below 20 MB/s or if the checkerboard casing cracks.

What limit appears first during sustained writes on this USB 3.0 drive?

The write speed ceiling of 20 MB/s is reached before the read speed of 100 MB/s during continuous transfers.
