Gigabit PoE PD SFP Fiber Media Converter

The TRENDnet TFC-PGSFP converts 100/1000BASE-T copper Ethernet to 1000BASE-SX/LX fiber via an SFP slot. It draws power directly from a PoE switch or injector through its single RJ-45 input port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter. Link Fault Pass-Through ensures that a failure on one media side immediately signals the other, maintaining network integrity during continuous operation. Jumbo Frame support up to 9KB allows larger payloads to move efficiently across the link without fragmentation. Operating temperature reaches 50 degrees Celsius, so the converter remains stable in warm cabinets or outdoor enclosures under constant traffic.

Upgrade path and fit

This converter replaces a standalone media converter that requires its own AC power supply, simplifying cabling where PoE infrastructure already exists. It is not suited for installations lacking PoE switches or injectors, or for links exceeding 20Km. The SFP slot accepts Fast Ethernet or Gigabit modules, so existing transceivers can be reused when migrating from 100 Mbps to 1000 Mbps fiber runs.
