6-port Fast Ethernet PoE+ switch

The TRENDnet TPE-S50 provides six 10/100 Mbps ports, four of which deliver PoE+ power for devices such as IP cameras or wireless access points. A 31 W PoE budget distributes up to 15.4 W per powered port. The metal chassis operates from 0 °C to 40 °C and includes wall-mount brackets for flexible placement.

1.2 Gbps switching fabric under load

A 1.2 Gbps switch fabric and 56 KB buffer memory handle simultaneous traffic across all ports without head-of-line blocking. IEEE 802.3x flow control pauses frames during congestion, while the 1 K MAC address table keeps forwarding decisions local. Maximum power draw reaches 36 W when every PoE port is fully utilised.

Metal housing and mode B pinout

The sturdy metal enclosure dissipates heat passively and meets CE and FCC emissions standards. PoE+ uses pins 4, 5 for positive and pins 7, 8 for negative voltage (mode B), compatible with standard 802.3af endpoints. A 110–240 V AC internal supply eliminates external bricks, and the package includes a power cord and quick installation guide.

Questions about this item

Does the TPE-S50 run silently when powering four PoE devices all day?

The switch has no fan listed in its specifications, so it operates silently while delivering up to 31 watts across the four PoE+ ports.

What cables and devices must I already have to use the four PoE+ ports?

You need Category 5 or better Ethernet cables and IEEE 802.3af-compatible powered devices such as IP cameras or wireless access points.

Will my older 10 Mbps half-duplex equipment work alongside the 100 Mbps ports on this switch?

Yes, each port auto-negotiates down to 10 Mbps half-duplex, so legacy devices connect without configuration.
